Directories and heatmaps have different roles
Browse source-returned sectors by market and category, with pagination, filtering and sorting. Directories retain records with unknown metrics. Heatmaps show selected sectors; the visible tiles are not a count of full market coverage.
The heatmap defaults to 20 selected sectors, with interface options up to 100. Directory pagination, visible tiles and source-wide stock breadth have separate scopes.
US sectors and industries
US Local mode opens at the industry level by default, with a sector-level option. Both directories and their constituents use classifications from the same Nasdaq stock directory, matched by source identity; these are not GICS or the Mini Program server classifications. Directory sizes follow the source. Use search and pagination in All Sectors, then open an industry to inspect returned members.
Industry changes are weighted by valid positive market capitalization. Records missing classification, market cap or change are excluded from the weighting; member lists retain missing fields. A source without a verifiable date remains unconfirmed. Missing same-identity industry indices, history, turnover or fund flows are not replaced with ETF or individual-stock series.
Separate sector net amounts from stock breadth
The flow comparison totals positive net amounts and absolute negative net amounts across valid returned sectors for the selected market and category. Sectors may overlap: this is not deduplicated market-wide buying or selling. Missing amounts remain unknown, not zero.
Stock breadth counts gains, losses and unchanged stocks for the actual source trading date, with unconfirmed records listed separately. It is not the number of rising or falling sectors. Check dates, sources and coverage labels before comparison.
Turn observations into research
- Choose a market and category and inspect the directory, net amounts and source dates.
- Compare the heatmap with the paginated directory, keeping unknown-value explanations.
- Record related companies, source materials, dates and questions to investigate.
Market changes are research leads, not automated industry conclusions or investment advice.
